ZESCO Calls For Expressions Of Interest For 7.5MW Solar PV Power Plant In Zambia

ZESCO Limited, the Zambian power utility, is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) companies for the development of a 7.5MW on-grid solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Kasupe, Lusaka Province.

The project aims to leverage renewable energy sources as part of ZESCO’s strategy to diversify and enhance the energy mix. The proposed solar plant will be located at the ZESCO Central Bulk Stores in Kasupe, utilizing 35 hectares of unused land for renewable energy development.

Key Project Details:

  • Capacity: 7.5MW (AC) on-grid solar PV plant.
  • Location: ZESCO Central Bulk Stores in Kasupe, Lusaka West, Lusaka Province, Zambia.
  • Land: ZESCO owns 35 hectares of unused land for the project.
  • Timeline: Construction is scheduled to begin in Q2 2024, with expected operational status by Q2 2025.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Interested EPC companies should submit the following:

  • Detailed company profile and relevant experience in similar projects over the last 10 years.
  • Minimum Tangible Net Worth of USD 15 million in each of the last three fiscal years.
  • Submission of audited financial statements for the last three financial years.
  • Evidence of compliance with taxation requirements in the country of operation.
  • Company registration documentation and information on beneficial owners.
  • Litigation status of the company.

Submission Details:
Expressions of Interest should be deposited in the tender box at LDCC Building Procurement Offices, clearly marked “Expressions of Interest for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of a 7.5MW On-Grid Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant in Kasupe, Lusaka Province, Zambia – ZESCO/EOI/011/2024.” The deadline for submission is Friday, 16 February 2024, at 10:30 hours local time. Telefax offers will not be accepted. The opening of the Expressions of Interest will take place in the Boardroom of the Procurement Division.
