Masdar, Infinity Power, and Hassan Allam Utilities Launch 1.2GW Solar Projects in Egypt

Masdar, Infinity Power, and Hassan Allam Utilities Sign Landmark Deal for 1.2GW Solar Projects in Egypt

Masdar, Infinity Power, and Hassan Allam Utilities have signed a significant agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to advance Egypt’s renewable energy ambitions. The deal includes two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for solar energy projects with a combined capacity of 1.2 gigawatts (GW) and 720 megawatt-hours (MWh) of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), marking a milestone in the nation’s clean energy transition.

Solar Projects to Support Sustainability Goals

The agreement covers two major solar projects: a 900 MW solar plant with BESS in Wahat and a 300 MW solar plant with BESS in Benban. These projects will contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing Egypt’s clean energy output, and supporting the country’s sustainability goals.

These initiatives are part of Masdar’s broader 4 GW renewable energy program and represent the first major steps in a larger collaboration between Masdar, Hassan Allam Utilities, and Infinity Power. The partnership aims to develop up to 11 GW of renewable energy capacity in Egypt, positioning the country as a leader in the region’s green energy landscape.

Amr Allam, Co-CEO of Hassan Allam Holding, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration:
“We are excited to commence this long-term partnership with Masdar and Infinity Power through this 1.2 GW solar investment. The private sector, in partnership with the government, plays a vital role in advancing Egypt’s renewable energy production. We are proud to contribute to the country’s decarbonization efforts and ambitious sustainability goals.”

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, highlighted the importance of the agreement:
“This agreement reflects Masdar’s dedication to advancing the clean energy transition in Egypt and globally. By leveraging the combined expertise of Masdar, Infinity Power, and Hassan Allam Utilities, we support Egypt’s renewable energy goals while building a sustainable future for generations to come.”

Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power, underscored the broader impact of the projects:
“We are proud to be part of this landmark agreement, which aligns with our mission to drive the clean energy transition in Egypt and across Africa. These projects will reduce carbon emissions and ensure sustainable energy access for millions, strengthening Africa’s renewable energy landscape.”

Official Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony took place at the Egyptian Cabinet in Al-Alamein City, attended by prominent figures including Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouli, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, and key officials from the involved organizations. Representatives included Amr Allam, Co-CEO of Hassan Allam Holding; Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power; and Mona Rizk, Chairperson of EETC.

Building a Green Future

The projects in Wahat and Benban are expected to play a vital role in Egypt and Africa’s transition to sustainable energy. With increasing demand for clean power and government commitments to climate action, fast-tracked projects like these are critical for achieving a resilient and sustainable energy future.

This collaboration not only advances Egypt’s renewable energy goals but also sets the stage for further green investments, reinforcing the country’s position as a leader in the global shift towards sustainable energy.
