SANY Silicon Energy reached a significant milestone on December 29th with the launch of the Zambia Ruida Mining Microgrid Power Project. This groundbreaking initiative is Africa’s largest hybrid microgrid tailored for mining operations, underscoring SANY’s commitment to advancing green energy and sustainable development in the region.
Cutting-Edge Hybrid Microgrid Technology
The project combines a 13 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) system, a 39 MWh battery energy storage system, and a diesel generator for backup power. Together, these components form a state-of-the-art microgrid that integrates solar, storage, and diesel technologies. Designed to provide reliable power for mining operations, the system promotes energy independence, reduces reliance on traditional fossil fuels, and boosts efficiency and sustainability.
Rapid Deployment at “SANY Speed”
From signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to commissioning, the project was completed in an impressive four months. This achievement, known as “SANY Speed,” highlights the company’s ability to overcome challenges such as Zambia’s rugged terrain, extreme weather, and limited infrastructure. The team’s adaptability and efficiency were crucial in bringing the project to fruition.
