LONGi and ENGIE Join Forces to Deploy Hi-MO 9 Modules in MENA Utility-Scale Solar Projects

LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, has entered a strategic partnership with ENGIE, a prominent energy group, to deploy its advanced Hi-MO 9 modules in large-scale solar projects across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the adoption of back contact (BC) solar technology for high-efficiency renewable energy systems.

The Hi-MO 9 modules, featuring cutting-edge BC architecture, deliver up to 670W of power with an impressive efficiency of 24.8% and a bifaciality of up to 80%. By relocating all electrodes to the rear of the cell, the design eliminates shading losses and maximizes sunlight capture—pushing the boundaries of solar conversion performance.

Engineered for durability, Hi-MO 9 modules also offer superior temperature coefficient performance, ensuring consistent power output even in the region’s harsh climate conditions. Backed by LONGi’s stringent quality standards, the modules promise long-term reliability and optimized returns for developers.

This partnership with ENGIE signals a new era for utility-scale solar,” said Dennis She, Vice President at LONGi. “The adoption of Hi-MO 9 demonstrates the energy sector’s growing recognition of BC technology as the next frontier in solar innovation.”

François-Xavier Boul, ENGIE’s Managing Director for MENA Renewables & Batteries, added: “Our collaboration with LONGi reflects ENGIE’s commitment to driving the global energy transition with innovative and sustainable solutions. This agreement sets a new benchmark for solar development in MENA and supports our shared goal of a carbon-neutral future.”

Beyond efficiency, the partnership underscores both companies’ dedication to environmental stewardship. The high power density of the Hi-MO 9 allows for optimized land use and reduced ecological footprint—aligning with best practices in sustainable project development.
