LONGi Hi-MO X10 Powers Djibouti’s First Off-Grid Solar Project

LONGi, a global leader in solar technology, together with its partner Proxy Group, has delivered Djibouti’s first off-grid solar project in Adailou village, Tadjourah region — marking a milestone in the country’s renewable energy journey.

The new solar power station has a capacity of 165 kW, supported by a 500 kWh energy storage system, providing consistent electricity to homes, schools, health centers, and businesses in the remote community. For the first time, Adailou residents now enjoy reliable power that supports education, healthcare, and local economic activity.

At the heart of the project are LONGi’s Hi-MO X10 solar modules, built on advanced back-contact (BC) technology and HPBC 2.0 cell innovation. Engineered for durability and efficiency, each module delivers up to 670W, with superior shading tolerance and minimal degradation over time, making them ideal for rural microgrids where reliability is critical.

The system also integrates Huawei’s battery energy storage, deployed by Proxy Group, ensuring stable energy supply even in challenging conditions.

At the inauguration ceremony, Djibouti’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Yonis Ali Guedi, described the project as a “significant step for rural electrification and energy access.” Residents welcomed the development, which coincided with the country’s Independence Day celebrations.

The initiative forms part of LONGi’s “Light Up Africa” program, designed to expand clean, dependable solar power across the continent. By combining cutting-edge technology with community impact, the Adailou project demonstrates how renewable energy can transform lives, reduce energy poverty, and build a sustainable future for Africa.
