NTPC Marks 51 Years of Powering India’s Sustainable Energy Future

NTPC Ltd, India’s largest integrated power utility, celebrated its 51st Raising Day, honoring more than five decades of fueling India’s growth and leading the country’s transition toward cleaner, sustainable energy.

The festivities were held at NTPC’s Engineering Office Complex (EOC) in Noida, where CMD Shri Gurdeep Singh unfurled the NTPC flag in the presence of Board Directors and senior officials. Employees from power stations nationwide joined virtually, reflecting the unity and shared mission of the NTPC family.

In his address, Shri Singh highlighted NTPC’s evolution from thermal power to renewables, nuclear energy, and green hydrogen, emphasizing the company’s pivotal role in India’s energy transformation. He also released Remembering Our Roots, a coffee table book chronicling NTPC’s journey, and announced the young achievers of the NTPC family. The celebration included the virtual inaugurations of the “Sangam” guest house in Unchahar, Uttar Pradesh, and the “Ujjivan Ayush Kendra” in Kayamkulam, Kerala, with similar events taking place across NTPC locations nationwide.

Currently, NTPC meets roughly one-fourth of India’s power demand, with an installed capacity of 84,849 MW and an additional 30.9 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW from renewable sources. The company aims to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, underscoring its commitment to supporting India’s Net Zero ambitions.
