Abunayyan Holding and Nextracker Launch Joint Venture to Accelerate Solar Energy Transition in Saudi Arabia and MENA

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Abunayyan Holding and Nextracker (Nasdaq: NXT) have signed an agreement to form Nextracker Arabia, a joint venture aimed at accelerating solar adoption across Saudi Arabia and the broader MENA region.

Headquartered in Riyadh, the venture will combine Abunayyan’s 75 years of leadership in energy and water infrastructure with Nextracker’s global expertise in solar power plant technologies, advanced trackers, and yield management systems.

“Nextracker Arabia represents a powerful new platform built on sustainability and responsibility, with a mission to maximize solar energy’s potential to drive MENA’s clean energy future,” said Turki Al-Amri, CEO of Abunayyan Holding.

Strategic Focus and Local Manufacturing

Nextracker Arabia will manage sales, engineering, operations, and ownership of Nextracker’s existing manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, positioning the Kingdom as a local production hub for utility-scale and distributed solar projects. The facility will produce advanced solar trackers, mechanical infrastructure, and control systems, supporting Saudi Arabia’s clean energy goals under Vision 2030, which targets 130 GW of clean energy deployment by 2030, with solar playing a central role.

“This joint venture brings production closer to customers, enhances self-reliance, and ensures the high performance and reliability our clients value,” said Dan Shugar, founder and CEO of Nextracker.

By localizing production and services, Nextracker Arabia will strengthen supply chains, create regional expertise, and accelerate the adoption of renewable energy technologies across the MENA region.

MENA Solar Market Outlook

The MENA region is rapidly emerging as a global leader in solar energy. According to the Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) 2025 Solar Outlook Report, solar capacity in MENA could surpass 180 GW by 2030. Installed capacity in 2024 reached 24 GWac, up 25% from the previous year, and is projected to exceed 30 GW by year-end.

Nextracker has already contributed over 6 GW of solar projects in the Middle East and Africa, including more than 3 GW in Saudi Arabia, with landmark projects such as the Al Kahfah (1.17 GW), Tabarjal (449 MW), and Sudair (904 MW) solar plants demonstrating high reliability and performance.

Leadership and Next Steps

Turki Al-Amri will serve as Chairman and CEO of Nextracker Arabia, while Rajeev Kashyap, Nextracker’s Senior VP for the Middle East, India, and Africa, will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer.

The joint venture anticipates commencing operations in Q1 2026, following the establishment of Saudi legal entities and satisfaction of other closing conditions outlined in the agreement.

“By leveraging local manufacturing, engineering expertise, and Nextracker’s proven technologies, Nextracker Arabia will drive cost-effective, scalable solar deployment across Saudi Arabia and the MENA region,” Al-Amri said.

Impact and Vision

Nextracker Arabia aims to accelerate the region’s energy transition, enhance local industrial capacity, and support sustainable economic growth, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. The venture underscores the growing role of renewable energy as a strategic driver for the Kingdom and the MENA region.
