Afreximbank Boosts Sustainable Development and Diversity Initiatives at Dubai’s 2024 Global Black Impact Summit

African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank) is set to play a prominent role at the Global Black Impact Summit (GBIS), scheduled for February 27th in Dubai, where it will serve as a platinum sponsor.

Afreximbank’s participation at GBIS 2024 as a platinum sponsor underscores its dedication to fostering diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment within global sustainable development efforts and across Black communities worldwide.

Hosted by the Black Impact Foundation and organized by Energy Capital and Power, GBIS is an annual event designed to celebrate the accomplishments of the Black community, promote excellence, and explore untapped potential across various sectors. This year’s summit promises to be transformative, featuring influential speakers, dynamic panel discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at empowering attendees to achieve new heights.

Under the theme ‘Black Excellence: The Untapped Potential to Unite our Global Economy’, GBIS 2024 will shine a spotlight on the pivotal role of financial institutions like Afreximbank in unleashing the full potential of Black entrepreneurs, projects, innovative business models, and individuals in driving global excellence.

As the premier trade finance bank for Africa, Afreximbank has established itself as a key financier and partner in fostering consistent economic growth, diversification, and sustainability across the continent. The bank plays a vital role in providing crucial funding to African projects, as well as public and private sector entities, thereby bolstering economic resilience and fostering innovation.

In the energy sector, Afreximbank is at the forefront of promoting the sustainable exploration, development, exploitation, monetization, and management of Africa’s abundant energy resources, including oil and gas, with the aim of eradicating energy poverty. Through strategic partnerships with leading oil and gas firms and critical projects, the bank is actively facilitating the continent’s energy poverty eradication agenda.

In 2022, Afreximbank entered into a partnership agreement with the African Energy Chamber to collaborate on capacity building, advocacy, and financing of African companies and infrastructure projects in the energy sector. Notable financing initiatives for African energy projects undertaken by Afreximbank include a $3.3 billion commitment to support the Nigerian National Petroleum Company in enhancing its operations. The bank also extends funding support to large-scale projects and companies such as Oil Senegal, Oando PLC, Nigeria’s Ansippa, and Oilfield Limited.

Moreover, Afreximbank is driving progress in Africa’s healthcare, agriculture, education, infrastructure, manufacturing, and various other sectors by providing capital and technical assistance.

At GBIS, high-level panel discussions and exhibitions will highlight the significant role played by institutions like Afreximbank in shaping Black Excellence, unlocking the full potential of Black entrepreneurship, transforming Black communities, and shaping the future of Africa’s energy sector.
