Energiequelle Expands Footprint In South Africa, Setting The Stage For Renewable Energy Growth

Energiequelle, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, has expanded its global presence with the establishment of a subsidiary in South Africa. The new offices, situated at the Waterfront in Cape Town, signify the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions in the region.

Taking the helm as the Managing Director of the local subsidiary, Energiequelle South Africa (Pty) Ltd, is Stefan Sager, who assumed the role on January 1, 2024. With extensive experience in the wind industry and a robust network for realizing wind and photovoltaic (PV) projects, Sager is poised to lead the company’s efforts in South Africa.

South Africa, as the second-largest national economy in Africa, faces a bottleneck in its growth trajectory due to a shortage of electricity capacity. However, the region boasts favorable wind conditions and areas with abundant sunshine, presenting exceptional potential for renewable energy development. The government has set ambitious targets for expanding renewable energies, leading to a significant number of projects being executed through extensive tendering processes.

Now, our goal is to enhance local support and add more wind and solar projects to our pipeline.”

Energiequelle’s expansion into South Africa aligns with its continuous growth trajectory. In the past year alone, the company hired nearly 150 new employees, reinforcing its commitment to driving the expansion of renewable energies not only in Germany and Europe but also in South Africa.
