Dubai-based H2 Global Energy has successfully completed initial studies for a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia project in southern Morocco, marking a major step toward sustainable energy production in the region.
Aiming for 1 Million Tonnes of Green Ammonia Annually
The project is designed to produce 1 million tonnes of green ammonia per year by harnessing Moroccoās abundant solar and wind resources. The process will involve green hydrogen production, which will then be converted into green ammonia, supporting decarbonization efforts in agriculture, transportation, and energy storage.
Project Development & Government Collaboration
H2 Global Energy is now working on securing project financing and finalizing the engineering design. The companyās leadership recently met with Moroccan government officials in Rabat to discuss:
ā
Regulatory framework for green hydrogen development
ā
Investment opportunities for international and local partners
ā
Collaboration strategies to fast-track project implementation
Positioning Morocco as a Green Energy Leader
Waleed AlHallaj, Chief Commercial Officer of H2 Global Energy, emphasized the projectās strategic importance, stating:
š¬ āWe are excited about the potential of this project to support Moroccoās transition to a green economy and enhance its position in the global energy market.ā
A Key Milestone in Africaās Renewable Energy Expansion
This initiative aligns with Moroccoās ambitious renewable energy goals, reinforcing the countryās role as a regional hub for green hydrogen and ammonia exports. As demand for clean energy solutions rises, Moroccoās strategic location and renewable potential make it a prime destination for green hydrogen investments.
