JA Solar Powers Ghana’s Transition to Clean Energy with 507 kW Solar PV Project

JA Solar, a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) technology, is driving Ghana’s renewable energy transformation with the successful installation of a 507 kW rooftop-canopy solar PV power plant at the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) Park in Accra. Developed in collaboration with RIFE Energy Ghana and TINO Solution, this milestone project showcases Ghana’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Recognized by the African Solar Industry Association, it sets a new benchmark for solar adoption in West Africa.

A High-Performance Solar Solution for Ghana’s Climate

The NITA PV project generates 696,000 kWh of electricity annually, ensuring consistent energy supply despite Ghana’s challenging tropical climate—marked by high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and intense UV radiation. JA Solar’s high-efficiency PV modules were chosen for their superior energy yield, low degradation rate, excellent temperature coefficient, and strong low-light performance, guaranteeing long-term stability and maximum efficiency.

Commitment to Innovation and Sustainability

JA Solar’s dedication to quality and innovation ensures its modules meet the highest industry standards, providing exceptional durability and performance across diverse environmental conditions. With a proven track record in Africa, the company continues to empower customers by reducing energy costs, enhancing sustainability, and delivering long-term value through cutting-edge PV solutions.

Leaders Applaud Ghana’s Renewable Energy Progress

At the project inauguration, Ghana’s Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, emphasized the national impact of the initiative:

“The NITA solar PV project demonstrates our commitment to integrating sustainable energy into national infrastructure—a true reflection of Ghana’s spirit of innovation.”

Richard Okyere-Fosu, Director-General of NITA, reinforced the broader significance of the initiative:

“This project is more than a renewable energy initiative; it underscores our dedication to technological innovation and sustainability. By adopting solar power, NITA is actively reducing carbon emissions and paving the way for a cleaner, technology-driven future.”

Advancing Africa’s Solar Energy Transition

As JA Solar expands its footprint in Africa, projects like the NITA solar PV power plant reinforce its mission to empower businesses, institutions, and communities with clean, reliable, and efficient solar energy solutions. By accelerating the transition to renewable energy, JA Solar is playing a crucial role in shaping a more sustainable and energy-secure future for Ghana and beyond.
