JinkoSolar Captures Its Largest Ever BESS Order from the Middle East for Storage Deployed in Utility Project

JinkoSolar, one of the leading ESS suppliers has secured a huge order from the Middle East energy storage market for signing the agreement of supplying 515MWh of its liquid cooling SunTera BESS that will be deployed in a utility-scale storage project.

In terms of performance, its generation capacity is set to reach 730 MWac and 1020 MWdc. Its energy storage capacity is set to reach 515MWh. Once up and running, it is expected to be among the major utility storage projects in the region. JinkoSolar’ s SunTera Liquid Cooling energy storage system will be a critical part of this project.

The SunTera, a utility-specific targeted liquid cooling storage solution designed and manufactured by JinkoSolar is based on the LFP battery technology and the whole set of liquid cooling energy storage containers can be adapted to the harsh climate environment in the Middle East. Each battery cell in this system is uniquely capable of maintaining a constant and universal level of operational temperature and limiting the highest temperature difference among cells within 2.5 Celsius degrees, the lowest industry level. This is essential in prolonging the service life of the entire system. As a result, it has a longer cycle life, and a higher degree of safety compared to conventional solutions.

JinkoSolar’s SunTera synergizes several advanced technologies including a long-life LFP cell, battery management platform, liquid cooling mechanism, and

cell-to-pack format. Each LFP cell in the SunTera has a charging and discharge rate of 0.25C and 0.5C and a cycle life of up to 8,000-10,000 cycles.

Thanks to its compact and modularized design, SunTera has the highest energy density of 3.44MWh per 20’ container (6.88MWh/40’ container). Moreover, since SunTera is a complete system unit, it can be transported to a project site in a quicker and more convenient fashion. This, in turn, significantly cuts installation costs and commissioning time.
