LONGi, a global leader in solar energy technology, reaffirmed its commitment to Africa’s renewable energy future through its active participation at the Energy Forum for Africa (EFFA) 2025 Conference held in Zambia in mid-September. The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, and innovators to explore solutions for Africa’s pressing energy challenges and emerging opportunities.
During the conference, Daniel Wang, LONGi Africa’s Utility Product and Solutions Manager, delivered an insightful presentation showcasing the company’s expertise in tailored solar solutions for large-scale mining operations. His presentation emphasized the growing importance of reliable, cost-efficient solar technologies in powering Africa’s mining and industrial sectors.
Meanwhile, Chris Ye, LONGi’s Regional Utility President for Africa, participated in a high-level panel discussion titled “Powering Production: Energy Solutions for Large-Scale Mining in Africa.” He stressed that solar energy for mining has moved beyond the experimental phase and is now a proven, bankable, and scalable solution.
“We’re excited about the potential of solar energy to transform Africa’s energy landscape,” said Ye. “Technologies like Back-Contact and products such as LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 modules are designed specifically for the operational realities of the mining industry.”
A key highlight of the conference came on September 12, 2025, when LONGi participated in the signing ceremony for a 46 MW solar project, marking another major milestone in the company’s expanding footprint across the continent.
In his keynote address, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema underscored the strategic importance of renewable energy in driving industrialization and sustainable development across Africa.
“The ultimate goal of this conference is the generation and distribution of power,” President Hichilema said. “We want to see a checklist of specific deliverables from these discussions. For us, energy—and electricity in particular—is everything.”
LONGi’s engagement at the EFFA 2025 Conference and its latest project signing reinforce the company’s long-term commitment to Zambia’s energy transformation and the broader advancement of sustainable power across Africa.
