Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre Pioneers Sustainable Transformation: Collaborates with TotalEnergies for Solar Photovoltaic Project

The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) has recently forged an agreement with TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation Middle East & Africa (DG MEA), a wholly-owned affiliate of TotalEnergies. This partnership aims to establish a solar photovoltaic project on the OCEC’s rooftop, marking a significant stride towards making OCEC the leading sustainable venue in Oman. Anticipated to generate 4.6 megawatt-peak (MWp) of solar energy and produce over 7,000 megawatt-hours (MWh), this initiative will substantially offset OCEC’s annual electricity consumption.

Supported by OMRAN Group, this endeavor underscores OCEC’s commitment to environmental sustainability, aligning with the government’s objective of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. By harnessing TotalEnergies Renewable DG MEA’s expertise and adhering to the highest industry standards, OCEC aims to achieve tangible sustainability outcomes while serving as a role model for others in the region.

Eng. Said Al Shanfari expressed gratitude for collaborating with OMRAN and TotalEnergies Renewables DG MEA, emphasizing the significance of this project in realizing OCEC’s carbon reduction goals and setting a precedent for green initiatives in the region. He highlighted the broader efforts of the OCEC Green Team to minimize the venue’s environmental footprint.

Mohamed Tribak, Middle East and North Africa Zone Director at TotalEnergies Renewables DG MEA, emphasized the company’s dedication to facilitating energy transition and supporting partners like OCEC in their sustainability endeavors. This collaboration underscores TotalEnergies’ commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions for businesses in Oman and beyond.
