Schneider Electric, Al Ahly Sabbour, and Gebal for Sustainability Solutions have announced a Memorandum of Understanding to launch sustainable community development initiatives in Sidi Heneish village, Marsa Matrouh Governorate. These projects aim to enhance local livelihoods through the Water, Food, and Energy Nexus, empowering the community to drive positive impacts across environmental, social, and economic dimensions.
Key projects outlined under this agreement include a 140-meter groundwater well for clean drinking water, a desalination station powered by 60 kW of solar energy to produce 60 cubic meters of water daily for drinking and irrigation, a climate-controlled greenhouse with a 15-ton annual production capacity, and a solar-powered fertigation unit. Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure technology will facilitate AI-based smart solutions to optimize energy use, enable remote monitoring, and reduce carbon emissions.
This partnership underscores Schneider Electric and Al Ahly Sabbour’s commitment to sustainable development, focusing on improving food security and providing clean water. These efforts are crucial as Matrouh residents heavily rely on saline rainwater and wells. The projects aim to economically empower the local community by creating jobs and providing training on the implemented solutions, benefiting over 19,000 individuals in energy, water, and food security sectors.
Mr. Sebastien Riez emphasized, “We are pleased to collaborate with Al Ahly Sabbour to deliver sustainable projects that support local communities. Our partnership marks a milestone in utilizing innovative technologies to achieve sustainability and equitable access to green energy.”
Eng. Ahmed Sabbour added, “At Al Ahly Sabbour, we are dedicated to contributing to sustainable development. Partnering with Schneider Electric and Gebal ensures our projects positively impact Sidi Heneish residents by enhancing water quality, agricultural productivity, and environmental awareness.”
Upon completion, these projects will be handed over to the local organization of Sidi Heneish for sustainable operation and maintenance, with local residents trained to manage these initiatives and raise community awareness.
