Swire Renewable Energy A/S Completes Acquisition of South African Renewable Energy Firm, Obelisk Energy Services Limited, and Affiliated Companies in South Africa and Ireland

Swire Renewable Energy A/S, a subsidiary of the Swire Group specializing in renewable energy maintenance and services, has completed the acquisition of Obelisk Energy Services Limited and its affiliated companies in South Africa and Ireland.

This acquisition follows Swire Renewable Energy’s recent purchase of Altitec Blade Services and aims to strengthen its presence in South Africa while establishing a footprint in the Irish renewable services sector.

Obelisk Energy Services is renowned for providing high-quality maintenance, testing, and support services for renewable energy projects, particularly in Cape Town, South Africa. With a track record spanning more than a decade, Obelisk has serviced over 200 renewable energy development sites and more than 20 wind farms in South Africa, offering a diverse portfolio including wind measurement, HS&E advisory, statutory inspections, operational maintenance, and blade and tower services. The company is committed to promoting local content and job creation in South Africa.

Ryan Smith, CEO of Swire Renewable Energy, emphasized the strategic significance of the acquisition, stating that it consolidates the company’s position in Africa and aligns with its long-term growth strategy in the renewable energy sector. By integrating the expertise of Obelisk and Altitec, along with Swire Renewable Energy’s core teams, the company aims to develop a competitive service network for OEMs, project developers, and energy producers across Africa.

Riccardo Buehler, Managing Director of Obelisk South Africa, expressed excitement about the integration with Swire Renewable Energy, anticipating opportunities for expansion and diversification in South Africa and other African countries.

As part of the integration process, Swire Renewable Energy will merge all South African entities from Obelisk and Altitec to streamline operations and drive growth throughout Africa in the renewable energy supply chain. The combined entity will operate under the Swire Renewable Energy brand.

Ryan Smith reiterated the company’s commitment to a smooth transition, welcoming Obelisk’s management team, staff, and technicians into the Swire Renewable Energy family as they work towards a shared vision of advancing renewable energy solutions across Africa.
