The successful joint product launch of the Next Ultimate, featuring BC Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10, was held in South Africa!

On November 8, 2024, LONGi held the highly anticipated joint product launch of the Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10 in Cape Town, South Africa, under the theme “Beginning of the Next Ultimate with BC.” This event showcased the unveiling of LONGi’s innovative HPBC 2.0 technology and introduced two groundbreaking products developed with this advanced technology. It drew significant attention from local customers and partners, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the African market. The event was led by Jia Chao, Head of LONGi’s Distributed Middle East, Africa, and Latin America regions, and was attended by key teams from the Utility and Distribution Africa sectors. Notably, Mr. Tang Chang’an, Acting Consul General of China in Cape Town, was present and delivered a keynote speech, adding further prestige to the occasion.

The highlight of the event was the introduction of LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 technology, which powers the new Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10 products. This breakthrough in BC technology offers an impressive theoretical conversion efficiency of up to 29.1%, approaching the theoretical limit of 29.4% for silicon-based cells. LONGi’s self-developed HPBC 2.0 module also set a new world record for silicon modules with an efficiency of 25.4%, marking the first time since 1988 that a Chinese solar technology company has achieved this feat.

Mr. Jia Chao highlighted that the key competitive advantage in the photovoltaic industry is the ability to reduce Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). The Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10 represent LONGi’s latest technological advancements aligned with this global trend. From pioneering monocrystalline silicon technology to advancing HPBC technology, LONGi continues to lead the way in photovoltaic innovation, setting new benchmarks for efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the global energy transition. The event also featured presentations on customized solutions for various applications, showcasing how LONGi aims to meet Africa’s growing energy needs sustainably.

LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 technology enables the development of modules designed for both utility-scale and distributed applications, addressing critical customer challenges while enhancing the safety and efficiency of PV modules.

**Hi-MO 9: The Ultimate Flagship for Centralized Applications**

The Hi-MO 9, a bi-facial module designed for large-scale utility power plants, is tailored to deliver high performance and reliability throughout the entire lifecycle of centralized power plants. It provides up to 6.5-8% higher output than conventional N-type products, significantly reducing LCOE and improving system stability. The Hi-MO 9 is particularly suited to diverse African environments, including water surfaces, grasslands, and deserts, offering a more cost-effective solution for solar power and making clean energy more competitive.

**Hi-MO X10: The Premium Choice for Distributed Applications**

The Hi-MO X10 is LONGi’s latest product designed for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and residential applications. It addresses common challenges in distributed power plants, such as shading and hot spots, which can compromise safety and system performance. The Hi-MO X10 incorporates next-generation technologies, including superposition bipolar composite passivation, 0BB, and a highly reliable packaging process, ensuring optimal power generation, system reliability, and enhanced aesthetics.

**Tailored Solutions for Local Needs**

Wu Lili, Sales Director for LONGi’s Africa Office Utility Business, presented customized solutions for Africa’s energy-intensive industries, including mining, chemicals, and steel. By integrating innovative financing models, local IPP and EPC resources, and leveraging LONGi’s proprietary GSE Software, LONGi offers end-to-end high-efficiency renewable energy solutions tailored to the unique needs of African clients.

A panel discussion was held on the opportunities and challenges of South Africa’s renewable energy development, with local policymakers, developers, and investors sharing valuable insights. LONGi’s Guo Bin and Sun Xianming also participated, discussing strategies for overcoming challenges and capitalizing on opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

In recognition of LONGi’s achievements, four memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed during the event, totaling 120 MW of capacity. These MOUs reflect the strong interest from local customers in LONGi’s high-efficiency, high-yield, and aesthetically appealing solar products. Mr. Jia Chao also presented annual awards to local distribution partners, thanking them for their continued support of LONGi’s products and technology.

With the successful launch of Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10, LONGi remains focused on technological innovation and enhancing product performance and customer value. Looking ahead, the company will continue supporting its South African partners with leading BC technology and customized services, driving local energy transformation and contributing to global sustainability goals.

Prior to the launch, LONGi officially opened its South Africa Office, marking its official entry into the market and enhancing its ability to meet local customer needs.
